This course covers petrol-engine truck-mount systems from HydraMaster and Sapphire Scientific in their Australian configuration. Before you begin, identify the exact machine you operate — the safety-critical setpoints (temperature, working pressure, RPM, service intervals) are model- and engine-specific, so everything that follows must be read against your unit's manual.
The power myth, first: these machines do not plug into 240 V mains. An onboard petrol engine drives the pump and blower and generates the heat from its own exhaust; the onboard electrics are 12 V DC. There is no US-120 V → AU-240 V conversion on the machine — the Australia-vs-US difference is distributor, warranty and fuel, not voltage.
How to identify your machine
Find the specification / serial plate on the unit (usually on the frame or engine shroud).
Note the make (HydraMaster or Sapphire Scientific), the model (e.g. Boxxer 318HP, TITAN 425, Sapphire 370SS, Apex 570), and the serial number.
Note the engine make and model (Briggs & Stratton, Kohler, Kawasaki or Kubota) — service intervals and oil grades follow the engine, not just the truck-mount.
Keep the unit's own operator manual to hand; it is the final authority on every figure in this course.
